Originally from Queens, NY, Pastors Matthew and Jeanette Sassano have clearly heard God’s direction to see the gospel flourish in Hornell, NY as well as the entire region. They are the founders & Lead Pastors of Fresh Start Church. (FSC)

Pastor Matt graduated from Evangel University in Springfield, Mo. (formerly CBC) and ordained in 1986 with the Assemblies of God. Since 2011 he’s been ordained with LifeNet Apostolic Network (LAN) in Rochester, NY under the leadership of Apostle Ron Domina. He also serves on their board of directors.

Pastor Jeanette was ordained in 2017 and has ministered in Uganda & the Dominican Republic. She is the director of “Radiant” Women’s Ministry and leads the hospitality ministries of the church. She also serves as the church office manager & Administrative Assistant to her husband. She is a sought after as a speaker for events & conference ministry. As of 2023, she has had a mandate from God to minister, help and teach/preach on the subject of sexual grooming & sexual abuse. Pastor Jeanette has started a ministry called “It’s Time Ministries.” Through various fund raising efforts, she has been able to salvage lives from prostitution and sex trafficking, in particular in the nation of Uganda. She has seen MANY set free from the hideous effects of sexual abuse, grooming and sex trafficking. She speaks at churches on this most important, life redeeming subject.

Pastor Sassano has ministered in Argentina, India, Africa, and the Dominican Republic. The Sassano’s serve the Hornell, NY community and region through FSC and R.I.S.E.N. (Reaching Into Society’s Every Need) - the outreach arm of FSC. This includes a free clothing, groceries, etc., ministry that has become a staple in the city & region. The ministry is under the able leadership of Melynda Lorow and her incredible team, where hundreds are served each month.
